Create an alarm rule to send alarms generated from your cluster, to channels other than mKC (Email, Slack, Jira) as well. To send alarms to other channels, you first need to register the recipient. For details on registering targets or groups, please refer to the Recipient document.
First, click on the [Create Rule] button on the Alarm Rules page to access the Create Alarm Rule page.
To make changes on previous pages during the creation process, you can click on the step number to return back to that page.
Step 1: Entering Basic Information
Enter the name and description for your new alarm rule. You can select either Admin or Personal in Creator. Admin rules are visible to all users, and personal rules are only visible to the user who created them.
Creator
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Admin | Rules that can only be created by admins |
| Personal | Rules that can be created by mKC users |
Step 2: Selecting Clusters
Select the clusters to apply the alarm rule. If you select multiple clusters, the rule will be created separately for each cluster.
Step 3: Alarm Metric Detailed Settings
mKC provides various alarm metrics by component types. Under each component type, select the metrics you want to receive alarms for, and enter the conditions for triggering alarms for those metrics. For more details on alarm metrics, refer to the help on the screen or the Rule Metrics document.
Step 4: Setting Alarm Trigger Conditions
Set the conditions for when the alarms should be triggered. Duration is a condition that triggers an alarm when the detailed settings of the metric applied in Step 3, are maintained for a specified period of time.
Step 5: Selecting Recipient & Entering Messages
Select the recipients of the alarm and enter the message title and content. You can select the group and individual user to be the recipient of the alarm. Also in message, you can enter the contents to display when receiving an alarm.
Please note that recipients must be pre-registered targets or groups in order to be selected. Alarms are still triggered even if no recipients are selected when creating the alarm rule, but you can only view them in the mKC alarm History.
Setting Predefined Values
Predefined values are values defined in advance that will be replaced in the alarm message content. If predefined values are used, each of them will be replaced when the alarm is sent. For more details on predefined values, refer to the Type Management - Predefined Values document.
